I’ve owned a couple of metal and fabric stools like this over the years but I really love the idea of building one myself, out of materials I choose. If you’ve ever spent any amount of time hiking or camping, you quickly come to appreciate having SOMETHING to sit on other than the ground.

This project is waaaay behind me ability to pull off… not in terms of skill, but in terms of wearing the results. Still, if you’ve got the craft and fashion chops, you can dazzle even the most jaded hipster with your amazing disco ball head protection. Also offers some defense against random laser fire*.

I’ve seen quite a few aquaponics plant and fish gardening designs, some can get very pricey or very complex. This is one of the few I’ve seen and thought, this is within my skill level and actually a manageable size for someone looking to dabble with the process without sinking a huge amount of money and space into it.

Clear off some valuable desk space with this DIY hammock that hangs your laptop off the edge of your desk for just a few bucks. I’d be tempted to modify it a bit to make the laptop a bit more secure, but it is definitely an idea that has a lot of merit. Video after the cut.
