The battle against overgrown vegetation and weeds takes on a more stylish and ergonomic angle with Viktor Rosendahl’s futuristic concept “weed whacker”.  Or, you could just be getting in shape for fighting Aliens from James Cameron’s 1986 scifi movie.

This pole saw attachment combines advanced ergonomics with clean electric power to remove brush and branches. The long reach of the extension boom and a balanced, weight-distributing harness allows the user to easily trim branches without putting strain on the arms or back. The tool also collects and transfers information about its activity wirelessly to better gauge usage and efficiency.

While a less subversive than “seed bombing”, seed blocks are an excellent way to get planting started.  As the article points out, its not cheap though, so enter the DIY angle.  It’s even appropriate for starting gardeners and children.

Serious gardeners who’ve kept track of their spending know how expensive it can be to purchase peat pots, potting soil, & soil blocks each year. With any sort of plant root bundle packaging, you are forced to buy more polypropylene and labels and trays. There is better way.

I’ve seen quite a few aquaponics plant and fish gardening designs, some can get very pricey or very complex.  This is one of the few I’ve seen and thought, this is within my skill level and actually a manageable size for someone looking to dabble with the process without sinking a huge amount of money and space into it.
