Did Ya See?

Seattle artist Etsuko Ichikawa works in an unusual medium.   Charring forms and designs onto a surface with molten glass (the sort and amount usually used in glass blowing).  Video after the cut.

These works are glass pyrographs that are made by drawing hot molten glass, leaving the immediate charred tracery of my movement with the heat. It is a way of capturing a fleeting moment and eternalizing it, and it gives the viewer the opportunity to see a gesture.

Hansel and Gretel would never had all the navigation problems in the forest that led them astray if they’d marked their path with these!

Glow-in-the-dark pebbles mark a path or highlight a flower bed. 100 piece set Line a walkway, edge a flower bed or fill a planter with these unique acrylic pebbles. After being exposed to daylight, these pebbles glow in the dark. Glow lasts approximately two to three hours after full sun exposure. I may be a bit of a minimalist with a generous place  in my heart for the simple clean lines of modern design, but was very taken with this fusion of industrial pipework and semi-processed wood (I just learned the term is “live edge”).  Its part of a collection by Akke 780 so check out the other pieces as well.
