Ruggedized Hybrid Android Phone / Walkie-Talkie

Well aren’t those nice. Ruggedized android phone/walkie-talk with big removable batteries. The X5 is nice. Drop in your SIM card, take it hiking, hunting, etc and have all the comforts of home.  Onboard memory is tiny at 4gb but it is expandable with a microSD card… something many of the newest traditional phones can no longer boast.

At first glance I thought this was just an elegantly designed dock, but looking more closely I noticed it also stands upright with incoming calls.  It even includes an integrated speaker.  No word on availability or other phone models it supports, however.

Asus, Yeah We Have A Tablet For That

Asus is just exploding all over the tablet scene. By my count this morning, they have four “regular” tablet devices, the Transformer Series (basically tiers from entry level to OMG). Then they have the Padfone series which are devices which allow you dock a phone INSIDE a tablet housing giving it access to the larger screen, storage, ports and a huge battery. Then finally they have some smaller form factor MeMo tablets (not my cup of tea, but some folks adore them.
